Health / Pharmaceutical Industry - Pharmaceutical sector Security of personnel in high-risk environments - South America - 2006 A major pharmaceutical company operating on all continents and concerned with the security conditions offered by new countries of settlement contracted GEOS to draft and implement all necessary plans and procedures to secure its personnel and sites in Central and South America. The department Counsel & Engineering assigns to the task a local expert who drafts and implements security policy of the subsidiaries in close coordination with the management and personnel of these societies.
Maritime and Rail Transport - Rail Transport INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE PROTECTION PROGRAM - France - 2008 A major French rail transport corporation, with extensive presence in high-risk countries, called on the GEOS Risk Advisory Bureau to help them reduce the vulnerability of personnel in the field to acts of intentional damage, sabotage and blackmail and to reinforce major crisis response and management capabilities. GEOS mobilised two experts who, successively, designed the security organisation and management processes, established the security systems needed for each phase of the life cycle of the project, designed a comprehensive journey management policy for the group and provided operational support to Top Management for the implementation of appropriate crisis management tools.
Maritime and Rail Transport - Maritime security PORT FACILITY SECURITY ASSESSMENT - LE HAVRE PORT - APRIL 2009 Le Havre Port “Florida Tip”of had to comply with the ISPS Code and to conduct Port Facility Security Assessment (PFSA). Port Facility Security compliance means that port authorities must conduct a security assessment followed by the drafting of a port or a port facility security plan. The “Florida Tip” houses the new “cruiser berth” at Le Havre Port, a berth much appreciated by cruise ship owners. It strengthens the position of Le Havre Port as the fifth largest port in Europe and the largest in France for foreign trade and the container traffic. As the assessment can only be conducted either by a State agency or by a Recognized Security Organization, the PFSA was conducted by GEOS, a certified RSO since June 2008. Experts from GEOS proceeded with a comprehensive scoping of the threats and risks at the port facility, and drafted a series of concrete measures to be implemented to counter such risks, which was validated by Le Havre Port CPSC, the Local Port Security Committee, one of the largest in France. Thus, GEOS successfully enters port facility security market in France.

Risk and Crisis Management Engineering - South Africa After the kidnapping of one of its site Managers in South Africa, a Major submits to our Counsel and Engineering department the mission to conceive an organisation able to anticipate, assess and manage all events likely to impact the company at the highest level. The department identified all such events, and created a Crisis Management Team appropriately dimensionned for the group and an internal awareness system tasked with the evaluation of the forewarnings of a crisis. GEOS drafted all the procedures of the organization so defined and trained its members.
Energy / Major project - ITB MAJOR PROJECT SECURITY ENGINEERING - MAGHREB
In order to best reply to the ITB issued for a millions of Euros project in Maghreb, an Italian/French Joint venture requires GEOS help to scrutinize the security appendix of the project. The department makes the appropriate assessment of the risk linked to the project, conceives and proposes a global architecture and the related cost estimate to secure the construction yards, life camps and logistical floods.
Industry / Agribusiness - Food Industry AGRIBUSINESS CAPABILITIES - RISK AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT ENGINEERING - France In the wake of a series of security incidents that received wide media coverage, an agribusiness corporation decided to reinforce and restructure their risk and crisis management systems for all sites and facilities (over thirty sites in France). The objective of the program was to enhance the group’s response capabilities for the management of food contamination scares and incidents. Public opinion is highly sensitive to food safety issues. Against this backdrop, GEOS conducted comprehensive risk mapping, planned and implemented a central risk/crisis management centre, provided the centre with the instruments needed to improve risk prevention (feedback and lessons learnt protocols, working groups by theme), crisis response capabilities (Hotline, emergency response centre, crisis management handbook, crisis communications management and media training) and provided training to crisis centre staff.
Energy / Major project - Water Security Audit / Audit and ITS The Management of a major waterworks distributing drinkable water to a European capital city seeks to implement preventive measures to protect this highly sensitive business. They ask GEOS to secure their activity. Given the importance of the data routed from one production site to another, GEOS devised a global system, that gives equal priority to access control and data communications integrity.
Industry / Agribusiness - Food Industry AGRIBUSINESS - Audit - France Following a series of acts of sabotage at an agribusiness plant (contaminated substances found on a production line), GEOS provided operational assistance as follows: - advisement to the group’s crisis management centre; - an investigation conducted at the production plant by a private investigator. The operation conducted by GEOS enabled the client to maintain and safeguard the longterm profitability of the production line. Goods produced at the plant were exported mainly to Asian markets.
Health care / Pharmaceutical Industry - Healthcare Operator SECURITY AUDIT A major health care group was confronted with confidential information leaks from within the company to its main competitor. The leaks led top management to review their security policy. The Risk Advisory Bureau was contracted to proceed with an assessment of security systems in place at headquarters and to deliver a response and remediation plan to counter all vulnerabilities identified.
Energy / Major project -Mining Construction : Socio-economic PROGRAMME - October 2007 A mining company decides to establish a mineral extraction operation in a protected zone renowned for its biodiversity. The project will attract a large migrant workforce to a sparsely populated region and the project could threaten the delicate social, economic and environmental balance. The corporation calls on GEOS in order to assess and control these potential risks. The GEOS Risk Advisory Bureau drafts security plans and procedures. Our staff coordinates security action, ensure quality control and train local personnel as part of a sustainable development approach. No crisis to date. The impact on the local population is beneficial and the project is conducted in an environmentally responsible way.

This corporate expansion program impacted its risk management organisation as well as the corporate image of the group in the eyes of the media and local partners.In order to support the company with the implementation of a global risk and crisis management system and to deliver media training to its risk managers, the GEOS Risk Advisory Bureau sent 2 experts who in 5 months established:

Health care / Pharmaceutical Industry - Reference Centre TRAINING A large health care Reference Centre, with thousands of clients, called on the GEOS Risk Advisory Bureau to provide sensitization training sessions to their partners on long-term risk management specific to hospitals and healthcare facilities.
To this end, the Risk Advisory Bureau organised a cycle of conferences over 15 dates in France entitled « From Risk Preparedness to Crisis Management » that covered the following points:
