ANTI-COUNTERFEITING & SUPPLY CHAIN SECURITY - FRANCE - APRIL 2008
Within the framework of a joint operation between Customs Officials and major national manufacturers to combat counterfeiting, a leading global cigarette manufacturer asked GEOS to conduct an investigation to identify and analyse a local trafficking network in the city of Lyon. Five weeks later, GEOS experts had exposed the network involved in the trafficking of contraband cigarettes (sites, methods, brands counterfeited) and identified over ten sellers as well as several, unexpected supply sources. The team’s conclusions were then submitted to the Customs Directorate General.
The operation led to the dismantling of a trafficking network responsible for the sale of over 500 packets a day.
