COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE - NORTHERN EUROPE - MAY 1999

A world-renowned pharmaceutical firm was surprised to see the publication of laboratory reports that criticized the supposed adverse effects of its core product. Sale of the medication was suspended in Europe. The company suspected foul play and so called on GEOS to identify the source of the attacks. GEOS quickly uncovered links between the competition and counterfeit medication manufacturers, revealed the dubious impartiality of the reports, and showed that pressure had been exerted by a competitor on the EU regulatory body. Lobbying and public relations allowed the company to relaunch its R&D program.
This pharmaceutical laboratory is today expanding its business after its very existence was jeopardized.

CRISIS : PROTECTION OF IMAGE AND REPUTATION - FEBRUARY 2007
A clinical test laboratory which had been approached by a foreign company seeking to acquire the business was impacted by a series of detrimental incidents : - relations with a federal authority deteriorated, - protests were held by associations outside the plant, - labour relations within the company deteriorated. GEOS Business Intelligence conducted an investigation to identify those responsible for these events, and to check if their declared intentions were not hiding motives of a third party seeking to benefit from the problems. Following a thorough investigation, we identified the motives of each of the stakeholders.
Though no direct relation between the three issues was uncovered, it emerged that the associations protesting against our client were being given confidential information by an employee of the laboratory.

COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS / UNFAIR COMPETITION - EUROPE - SEPTEMBER 2007
A pharmaceutical company that markets nutritional supplements and skincare products wanted to establish a tracking system to monitor one of its proprietary active pharmaceutical ingredients relative to rival products and generic knock-offs. GEOS Business Intelligence set up a product-specific tracking system and identified the manufacturers and distributors of the API in question. The tracking system allowed us to identify companies who sold competing products or generic equivalents without preliminary permission. We monitored their respective business environments (suppliers / distributors, regulatory and competitive information, etc.).
With this high-grade information our client now enjoys excellent visibility and retools its sales and legal strategy on an ongoing basis.

POST-CRISIS : LEGAL SUPPORT
One of the leading cosmetics firms in the world encountered problems with the Director of a South American subsidiary. The Director running the subsidiary was not following directives from company headquarters. GEOS Business Intelligence investigated the possibility of a conflict of interest between the Director’s position in the Group and his own private interests. It emerged that the Director owned a share of the capital of a certain company selected by him as a supplier to the subsidiary. The investigation report delivered by GEOS Business Intelligence provided evidence for a lawsuit.
The proofs provided resulted in a swift resolution to the problem and an out-of-court settlement.
